Not sure of exact birth date but year ia accurate. Could have been known as James Thomas aswell. Thomas was a railway clerk by profession. In the 1891 census Thomas lived at 36 Gloucester Rd. In the 1881 census he lived with his parents at 77 Blundell Street, Islington.

Herbert Archibald Gladman

(DOB 1887) - Islington/ United Kingdom
Herbert was in the army when he married Elizabeth and was based in The Barracks on Smithford Street, Coventry. He was a driver in the 42nd Royal Artillery. Elizabeth was a needle hand and she lived at 10 Hamilton Road, Coventry. Her father, John Shillam was a haulier but he died sometime(don`t know who long) before the wedding. Herbert`s parents were Thomas James Gladman(or James Thomas depending on which certificate you look at) who was a clerk, and Elizabeth Barrell(this could be Barrett but I`m not sure - the handwriting of these Victorians leaves a bit to be desired:-) As a child lived at 36 Gloucester Rd.
